The Evans Scholars, like the rest of the student body, frequently take advantage of Indiana University’s wide-ranging study abroad program. For this installment, we caught up with Gabby Vitulli to talk about her experiences in Florence, Italy this past semester.
Gabby, living with her three roommates in an apartment, took Italian arts and culture classes at Kapa International School. Along with an Italian language course, Gabby was exposed to Renaissance art, architecture and drawing techniques among other topics. Apart from her fastidious study habits, her locality allowed her to travel throughout Italy and to cities including Amsterdam, Barcelona and Budapest among many others.
While not traveling, Gabby spent time exploring the city and its vibrant art scene. During the day, Gabby could be found roaming The Boboli Gardens with its lush flowers and vegetation among the centuries old sculptures. At sunset, Gabby and friends would congregate at the Piazza San Michelangelo, which overlooks the Arno River and offers a particularly stunning view of Florence.
